AN APPEAL TO ALL SUPPORTERS OF PUBLICLY FUNDED LONG TERM CARE
Thank you for continuing to support publicly funded and managed long term care. It has been four years since Vancouver Coastal Health made the announcement that Trellis had been awarded the contract to build a for-profit facility to replace Totem and Shorncliffe.
The Trellis/Silverstone application is again making its way through the approval process at the District of Sechelt.
Many people stop me to say they are glad PPHC is keeping up the opposition campaign, but they don’t feel confident about writing a letter to the editor and the politicians themselves. Here’s a little secret, neither did we at first! My advice is to start small and speak from your heart. Express how you feel about for-profit care and that you don’t want that to happen here on the Sunshine Coast. If you are like me you must think that it just plain wrong and it has to stop now.
We need to keep pressure on the BC government to stop Trellis/Silverstone before it becomes finalized and a for-profit facility is built.
We are asking you to please write to Nicholas Simons. Adrian Dix, John Horgan and the Senior’s Advocate Isobel MacKenzie and the newspapers and help us make the case for public care.
